Dapagliflozin 5 mg & Sitagliptin 50 mg Tablets IPDapagliflozin 5 mg & Sitagliptin 50 mg Tablets IPDapagliflozin 5 mg & Sitagliptin 50 mg Tablets IP

Product Description

Dapagliflozin 5 mg & Sitagliptin 50 mg Tablets IP are used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. Type 2 diabetes mellitus, also known as non-insulin-dependent diabetes, is a condition characterized by elevated blood glucose levels due to insufficient insulin production, insulin resistance, or both.

Uses

Dapagliflozin and Sitagliptin tablets are used to treat Type 2 diabetes mellitus.

How it works

This tablet contains two antidiabetic medicines: Dapagliflozin (an SGLT2 inhibitor) and Sitagliptin (a DPP-4 inhibitor).

  • Dapagliflozin reduces blood glucose by promoting the excretion of excess glucose through urine.

  • Sitagliptin increases insulin secretion and decreases glucagon release, reducing hepatic glucose production.

  • Together, they help control blood sugar levels effectively.

Benefits

  • Effectively manages type 2 diabetes mellitus by lowering blood glucose levels.

  • Dapagliflozin promotes urinary excretion of excess sugar, while Sitagliptin enhances insulin release and reduces glucagon activity.

  • Used in combination with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control.

How to use

  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, with or without food; do not break, chew, or crush it.

  • Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily. Do not skip doses or stop without medical advice.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

  • Stomach upset

  • Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels)

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhoea

  • Headache

  • Constipation

  • Dizziness

  • Runny nose

  • Sore throat

Report any unusual symptoms to your doctor promptly.

Safety Advice

  • Alcohol: Avoid alcohol, as it may cause serious side effects like increased hypoglycemia or lactic acidosis risk.

  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Inform your doctor if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Dapagliflozin is not recommended in the second/third trimester; use only if the benefits outweigh risks.

  • Kidney/Liver Conditions: Use with caution; inform your doctor of any renal or hepatic impairment, as dose adjustments may be needed.

  • Contraindications: Do not use if you have severe renal impairment, hepatic disease, a history of pancreatitis, diabetic ketoacidosis, or hypersensitivity to the ingredients. Not for type 1 diabetes.

  • Drug Interactions: Inform your doctor about medications like diuretics (increase DKA risk), insulin, corticosteroids, or CYP inducers/inhibitors, as they may affect efficacy or side effects.

  • Monitoring: Regular blood glucose, kidney function, and ketone monitoring are recommended. Watch for signs of infection or dehydration.

  • Consult your doctor for any underlying conditions or if you are elderly.

Dapagliflozin 5 mg & Sitagliptin 50 mg Tablets IP are used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. Type 2 diabetes mellitus, also referred to as non-insulin-dependent or adult-onset diabetes, is a condition characterized by elevated blood glucose levels caused by insufficient insulin, insulin resistance, or a combination of both.

Common causes of diabetes include low-fiber diets, high-fat or sugary diets, obesity, smoking, stress, physical inactivity, aging, genetic factors, and certain medical conditions.

How does Dapagliflozin 5 mg & Sitagliptin 50 mg Tablets IP work?

Dapagliflozin 5 mg & Sitagliptin 50 mg Tablets IP is a combination medicine containing Sitagliptin that enhances glucose-mediated insulin secretion, thereby reducing fasting and post-prandial blood sugar concentrations.
