Product Description

Omeprazole Gastro-resistant Capsules IP 20 mg belongs to the class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach ulcer, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (overproduction of acid due to pancreatic tumour). Under normal conditions, the stomach is protected from its own acid by a thick layer of mucus lining the stomach wall. But, in the long run, it gets eroded by excessive stomach acid production, leading to complications like GERD, peptic ulcer, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Omeprazole Gastro-resistant Capsules IP 20 mg contains omeprazole, which helps reduce stomach acid by blocking the actions of an enzyme (H+/K+ ATPase or gastric proton pump). The proton pump is located in the cells lining the stomach wall and plays a key role in the production and release of gastric acid. Omeprazole Gastro-resistant Capsules IP 20 mg prevent the release of stomach acid and relieve symptoms of food pipe lining inflammation (esophagitis), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or heartburn.

Uses

Omeprazole Capsules are indicated for:

  • Symptomatic treatment of GERD and erosive esophagitis (healing and maintenance)

  • Management of peptic ulcers (gastric/duodenal) and associated heartburn/indigestion

  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (hypersecretory states)

  • Adjunctive therapy for functional dyspepsia (non-ulcer indigestion with bloating/epigastric pain)

Not for children <12 years, acute bleeding ulcers, or long-term use without monitoring. Combine with H. pylori eradication if applicable.

How it works
