Sacubitril 24mg & Valsartan 26mg Tablets IPSacubitril 24mg & Valsartan 26mg Tablets IP

Product Description

Sacubitril 24mg & Valsartan 26mg Tablets IP is used in the treatment of chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) in adults (NYHA class II-IV), reducing the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization.

It may also be used in children aged 1-18 years for symptomatic heart failure with systemic left ventricle. Heart failure is a condition where the heart cannot pump blood effectively, leading to symptoms like shortness of breath and fatigue.

Uses

Treatment of chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.

How it works

Sacubitril 24mg & Valsartan 26mg Tablets IP combines Valsartan (an angiotensin II receptor blocker, ARB) and Sacubitril (a neprilysin inhibitor). Valsartan blocks angiotensin II receptors, relaxing and widening blood vessels to ease heart pumping. Sacubitril inhibits neprilysin, preventing the breakdown of natriuretic peptides (like BNP), which promote vasodilation, natriuresis (sodium excretion), and reduce cardiac stress. Together, they improve heart function and reduce blood pressure.

Benefits

This medication helps manage heart failure symptoms, reduces the risk of hospitalization, and may lower mortality in patients with HFrEF. It improves quality of life by alleviating fatigue and shortness of breath. Benefits are supported by clinical trials and depend on adherence to treatment.

How to use

Swallow sacubitril-valsartan tablets whole with water; do not crush, break, or chew them.

Side Effects

  • Common: Cough, dizziness, diarrhea, fainting, headache, nausea, stomach pain, vertigo, weakness.

  • Rare but serious: Angioedema (swelling of face/throat), hyperkalemia (high potassium), severe hypotension, and kidney impairment. Seek immediate medical help for severe symptoms.

Safety Advice

  • Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Sacubitril 24mg & Valsartan 26mg Tablets IP, as it may worsen side effects like dizziness or low blood pressure.

  • Not recommended during pregnancy (Category D; may harm the fetus). Consult your doctor if planning a pregnancy.

  • Contraindicated if you have hypersensitivity to ARBs/ACEIs, severe kidney/liver disease, or bilateral renal artery stenosis.

  • Inform your doctor about medications (e.g., potassium supplements, NSAIDs) to avoid interactions.

  • Monitor blood pressure, potassium levels, and kidney function regularly. Not recommended while breastfeeding.

Storage Conditions
